For a duration of six hours Nikhil made a large drawing on the wall of La Monnaie de Paris, live and in plain view of the public for Asia Now. He transformed into a persona whose image was precariously placed between a soldier and a dandy. At a time when the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was making headlines, Nikhil drew a landscape in distress; flood and fire, juxtaposed against the serenity of nature. He assumes a world of isolation and alienation on the brink of disaster. In a building that once minted money, the opportunity here is to question the role of capitalist, consumer, money driven economies in the way they have shaped desire, need and greed.
